Salute to Public Music Education

As part of our 10th Anniversary, we’re supporting students in our school district’s public music education programs. As public funding for music education funding diminishes, the Nanaimo International Jazz Festival Association is investing in efforts to bolster support for students. This year, students of the Wellington Jazz Academy are given opportunities for audience exposure and experience at a number of our events.

When you attend a Festival headliner concert, you’ll find them welcoming guests pre-show and, most often, entertaining during intermission in venue lobbies. We’d love to expand this support in the future and reach out to other schools and music programs growing the program to include other districts in the mid-Island. Your support through donations can help this happen. Donors receive a charitable receipt for income tax purposes and knowledge that you’re helping young people explore their place in the future of jazz music and, more broadly, arts and culture in your community.
