New Orleans Parade with Natasha Hoskins' Stompers (and yourself in the Second Line)

All of Nanaimo is invited to dress up and join the "Second Line" - walking beside or behind the band as they parade down Fitzwilliam (corner of Selby) onto Commercial Street and resting at Terminal Avenue.

The parade will then move up Commercial Street over to Front Street and over to Pioneer Plaza, ultimately ending at the big Mardi Gras Party at Pioneer Plaza.

Nanaimo’s "First Line" is a band, a blend of professional musicians and students - lead by drummer Natasha Hoskins.

Learn More About Second Line Parades:

Brass bands throughout the world were hired to do many functions - military, weddings, picnics, celebrations and funerals. Second Line is a tradition in brass band parades in New Orleans, Louisiana (NOLA). The "Main Line" or "first line" consists of the brass band lead by the Grand Marshall. Those who follow the band do just so to enjoy the music and are called the "second line." The second line's style of traditional dance, in which participants walk and sometimes twirl an umbrella, a parasol or handkerchief in the air, is called "second lining."
